Laboratory Tissue Mineral Analysis is offered nationally - Order your kit today!

About the test

Nutritional minerals and toxic heavy metals within your body can be tested in a simple hair tissue sample.  This is a lab test that provides a vivid picture of your internal environment and reflects how efficiently your body is working. The results are a very valuable tool for prevention of potential problems and to fine-tune nutritional needs.

From your individual tissue analysis, several hundred factors are evaluated and correlated with your age, sex and current health symptoms.  You will be provided with a comprehensive report including graphs to enable you to gain needed information regarding the condition of your current health.

Trace Elements laboratory testing is both accurate and reproducible.  The laboratory instruments and equipment used are state-of-the-art in the industry, providing high sensitivity and selectivity for all minerals reported.

Most private health plans cover all or a portion of Naturopathic Services in both Canada and the United States.  Insured patients are encouraged to contact their employer or individual insurance provider to determine if they are covered and/or to request that their policy be extended to include Naturopathic Services if it does not currently do so.

Clinical Nutrition

Nutrition and the therapeutic use of foods is the cornerstone of naturopathic medicine.  Food sensitivities and imbalances have been associated with many illnesses.

Nutritional, Dietary & Lifestyle Counselling

Bloating, gas, indigestion, heartburn, constipation, diarrhea and even allergies can be symptoms of poor digestive health and/or simply eating the wrong foods.  Individualized nutritional, dietary & lifestyle counselling can provide important insight to help you regain balance and reclaim your health.  Not everyone should eat the same foods or do the same type of exercise to maintain good health. In fact, the nutrients we absorb well and how our bodies handle stress differ with each individual's internal chemistry.

European Gemmotherapy

Phytoembryotherapy or plant stem cell therapy

A form of herbal medicine made principally from the embryonic tissue of various trees and shrubs (the buds and emerging shoots), and also from the reproductive parts (the seeds and catkins) and from newly-grown tissue (the rootlets and the cortex of rootlets). In some cases, they may also be prepared from the sap. This raw material is taken at the peak time of the tree or shrub’s annual germination in order to capture the various nutrients, vitamins, plant hormones and enzymes that are released during this process.

Weight Management

Sustainable weight management means learning to eat the right amount of the right foods, and do the right type of exercise for you as an individual long term.

Herbal Therapy

Herbal therapy refers to using a plant's seeds, berries, roots, leaves, bark, or flowers to aid in the body's ability to heal.  Plants have been used for medicinal purposes long before recorded history.  Ancient Chinese and Egyptian papyrus writings describe medicinal uses for plants as early as 3,000 BC.

Homeopathic Therapy

Homeopathic therapy uses active natural substances in very dilute doses that stimulate the immune system aiding in the body's ability to heal.

Tissue Mineral Analysis which includes Heavy Metal Screening

Tissue mineral analyses expose mineral deficiencies and heavy metal toxicities.

Minerals deposited in the hair reveal a great deal about:

· the state of your body chemistry

· stage of stress

· metabolic rate

· energy levels

· carbohydrate tolerance

· nervous system balance

· immune system

· adrenal and thyroid function

· trends for physical, emotional and mental conditions

These results help to explain the causes of various health issues, many of which are related to mineral imbalances, nutritional deficiencies/excesses and heavy metal toxicities.

Hair mineral analyses are not medical tests used to diagnose disease. When properly performed, they enable screening and interpretation to help uncover tendencies for various conditions such as:

· Depression

· Anxiety

· Thyroid and Adrenal Health

· Anemia

· Hypoglycemia

· Muscular Problems

· Hypertension

· Arthritis

· Hair Loss

· Digestive Disturbances

· Diabetes

· Stones

· Cardiovascular Disease

· Skin Problems

· Allergies

· The list goes on…

Common Causes of Mineral Imbalances and exposure to toxic metals may come from:

· The environment, food, drink, workplace or certain hobbies

· Improper diet of refined carbohydrates and sugars

· Strict vegetarian and vegan diets or other nutrient limiting diets

· Medications and even supplements that are not compatible with your current body chemistry

· Stress which can often severely deplete minerals

Not all Hair Tissue Mineral Analyses Laboratories are Created Equal

There are a number of laboratories performing hair tissue mineral analyses however, Trace Elements (TEI), where your sample is sent for testing is quite unique. The fundamental issue surrounding the accuracy of hair tissue testing is whether the hair is washed or not. Accuracy is compromised if the laboratory washes the hair with harsh solvents, and this is what happens in most laboratories.

This procedure washes away the water soluble minerals such as sodium and potassium which are critical in determining thyroid and adrenal function. I am aware of only two laboratories that do not wash the samples. In my opinion, TEI is the most reputable and therefore the one that I use.

How does Hair Tissue Mineral Analyses compare to Blood Tests?

Blood tests provide important information about a person’s biochemical status, but they only evaluate the fluids in the body. The blood is generally maintained at very precise and relatively constant levels and therefore does not always accurately reflect existing mineral deficiencies and/or excesses in the tissues. By the time mineral levels are low in the blood, the person is usually very ill. Mineral imbalances show up first in the tissues, often months and even years, before they are identified in the blood—unless an acute exposure to toxic metals has just taken place.

The body quickly sequesters toxic metals to the tissues to prevent sudden death. It has been proven that metals are far easier to detect and measure accurately in the hair tissue. Hair tissue analyses will determine what has been stored in the tissues over approximately the last three months, and longer.
